About the Battalion
The Marauder Battalion was established in June 2005. Prior to that, Waipahu High School had never before hosted the JROTC (Junior Reserves Officers' Training Corps.) program.
The program consists of regulation drill teams: armed and unarmed; a Color Guard team, and Armed Exhibition Drill Team. Every Cadet who has joined the program has found great interest in the many training activities it has to offer.
Drill Meets: Drill meets are also optional. Cadets can either participate in the actual competition or just come to support their fellow Marauders. Waipahu has a significant drill team but would really appreciate MORE participation (especially new cadets)!
*Cadets need to wear their Class B uniforms in Drill Competitions.
**Cadets who are interested in Drill need to go to practices every after school.
Camps: One of the camps that we have is Advance JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge Camp (AJCLC)/ JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge Camp (JCLC) or the Spring Camp. AJCLC is for a week or 6 days while JCLC is for 3 days. AJCLC/JCLC (Phase I/Phase II) is a camp for JROTC cadets which take place at Schofield Barracks (Area X). The AJCLC cadets are students who take leadership position at JCLC. To determine their leadership position, they are trained beforehand and tested in areas such as drill and ceremony, physical fitness, and a required written essay on General George C. Marshall's principles of leadership. Consisting of four training groups, the cadets are in competition for first through fourth place. To establish the first place winner, they are given merits or demerits for their action of integrity; receiving merits for delegating and executing their tasks and missions well or demerits for failing to do so.
Another camp we have is the Advanced Leadership Training Camp (ALTC). This camp takes place in Summer at Youth Challenge Academy.
Last one would be Waianae Adventure Challenge. It's not really a camp. Obviously, it's an adventure challenge that lasts for three days. This is not like AJCLC/JCLC nor ALTC. WAC is an adventure challenge where you do 7 activities. There's rope bridge, river crossing, PT, swimming/paddling, mystery challenge, rapelling, tug-o-war, and more.
